 Young Adults Trip Part 1

What a thrilling start to 2009!  The Young Adults ministry team arrived at 7pm on Dec 31 and just hours later
we celebrated the New Year’s arrival with an estimated 1,000,000 Chinese who gather at the waterfront districts to watch the fireworks and ring in the New Year!

It’s 2009 and we’re at 7-11 at 1am.

“SORRY SIR!  SORRY SIR!...NO PICTURES…NO PICTURES…OUR COMPANY SAY THIS IS NOT OUR POLICY…”
(Welcome to HK…)

Only hours later, the next morning, the team loaded up with materials to deliver to our Chinese brothers and sisters.

The team crossed into China at about 1pm HK time (midnight EST, New Years Eve).

Upon their return everyone celebrated New Year’s Day at the Fischer’s house.

The Young Adults team and our Faith Family Church gathered together for a first time event!
A Weekend Camp featuring interaction, games, drama, and ministry.

The team and the HK Chinese were able to develop close relationships.

Let the Games begin!  The captains are chosen, the teams organize, and the starting line is drawn—
for the famous “Bible Relay Race”, featuring heavy bags of Bibles and competitive team spirit.

Steve wears dark sunglasses to make sure there’s no cheating—the teams stare down their opponents…

And they’re off!  Speed and enthusiasm are the key to victory…

Team coordination is essential in the Bible Remix Relay…

The thrill of Victory!…and the Agony of Defeat…

Next, each team was required to create and act out a drama of an assigned Bible story…
no Academy Awards but definitely some good laughs.

The evening meal was a Chinese favorite—Barbecue!!!

The Sunday, Faith Family Church was held at the camp the next morning.

The visiting Pastor, Kevin Cole, ministered to the mixed assembly.                (One of our church members Bible on his iPhone)

After the preaching, the Young Adults team prayed for our Chinese church members and visitors.

We give God all the Glory as some of the visiting Chinese gave their hearts to Jesus Christ.  Many wonderful friendships were formed, lives were changed, and none will ever forget the weekend at the Faith Family Camp 09’!

The next day the team packed their belongings for a 7 day—4 city whistle-stop tour of Northern China.

Navigating through all the people and squeezing into the train is always a challenge.

But once on board, everyone finds a place…and gets comfortable…for a looong train ride…

Time to reflect…                                     Inspirational moments…                                      36 HOURS ON THIS TRAIN!!!

The team enjoys the culinary delights supplied by the China Railway… while the weather changes from warm to cold…

And those guys in Black Uniforms!  On the train or off…day or night…you just can’t seem to get away from them…

And then…FINALLY!!!

…Early on the third day of train travel, the team steps off the train into sub-zero temperatures, with gusty winds driving the wind-chill factor even further below zero…numb fingers pulling the thousand pound load of materials behind…the reality of winter in Northern China and our destination is finally realized…

WELCOME TO SHENYANG, CHINA!

The events that occurred next brought about a life-changing experience for the team and timely encouragement, served with unforgettable tangible blessing, to the Western "friends", Chinese,—and North Koreans we visited.

…To be continued in the next eNewsletter…don’t miss the story of this incredible adventure!
