2009 Summer Youth Trip Part 1

Back

Upon their arrival in Hong Kong, the Faith to the Nations (FTTN) Summer Youth Team ’09, went from the HK airport to their lodging, with one hour to drop off their belongings and shower. They were then whisked back out to, our church plant, Faith Family Church HK (FFC) facility.

For an All-Night Faith Family Church Youth/Young Adults Lock-in!

That means games…

Fellowship…

Food, photo opts, and of course…movies!…

It has been so productive and beneficial to the Chinese in FFC when teams from America come to minister.  Lasting friendships are created and the FTTN team members are examples and demonstrate God’s love and sacrifice for the whole World.

The next day they all attended the morning service of FFC.

Interestingly enough, ten years earlier, one of the FTTN team members, Channing, along with the Fischer kids, graduated from a summer-long Bible School for children.  Sharmin was one of the instructors in that school and remembered, that Channing, had written a very anointed song.

Sharmin translated it into Chinese, and with Channing and the music team, sang her ‘childhood written song’ in English and Chinese for the whole church—and they all loved it!…quite touching…

The team and many from FFC also visited the ‘Doulos’, an international Christian ministry and charitable aid ship that travels the world.

This is quite a stimulating thought for many of the HK Chinese…“Leaving Hong Kong”—for MINISTRY! (and not to make money)...that’s a new and challenging concept, and even further demonstrated by FTTN team members who testify of their sacrifices and walking in faith just to visit them in Hong Kong!

And no FTTN trip would be complete without border-crossings into China with Bibles.

QUESTION?

What’s the difference between these Bibles and People?

Answer: People have legs and feet!

That’s why God said:
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news” Isaiah 52:7

Get it?  We have legs and feet—Bibles don’t!…So, they’re not just going to walk into China by themselves!

—THEY NEED YOU!!!

God also says that those who are willing and obedient will EAT the good of the land!  After every crossing, we stop and eat the best Chinese food Shenzhen has to offer.

–Meet the people who write the software for your computer programs.  These young and ambitious Chinese technicians are extremely intelligent when it comes to designing and writing computer programming.  They also speak English…well, sort of, that’s why they want to talk to you…to practice.

Our team visited this tech company for an “English Corner”.  Many of the technicians are not saved and it seems like someone on the team always manages to lead at least one person to Jesus during the evening.  That always makes the trip—priceless!

The Big Event!

For over a year we have been working on this event and were finally able to coordinate it with our Chinese friends in Mainland China and make it happen!

So…here we go…

Almost a hundred people; the students, their parents, their teachers, the FTTN Summer Youth Team, FFC church members, FFM staff—and the Fischer family, joined together for what would be, an amazing first-for-all and life-changing event for everyone involved!

The vision of this school is not to just have a few Christian subjects taught to the children, but to truly develop their Christian character and train them to be the Evangelists and Pastors that China so desperately needs.

They specifically asked us to teach the children, “How to be closer to God”
—and to teach the staff and parents how to do it.

An exciting request!  A tall order!

Thank God for a well equipped Holy Spirit trained team!!!  The USA Team and the Chinese Faith Family Church members poured themselves into the Chinese every waking hour for the next five days, devoted themselves to teaching, singing, praying, conversing, hugging, holding, playing and showing genuine love even as they endured the scorching heat and humidity of summertime southern China.

The team brought all of their musical instruments and upon arrival, unpacked and settled in to splendor of this lush and beautiful retreat renowned for its greenery and scenery.

And what would a camp be w/o a trash hauling…tractor…and…a camp mud-hauling…sinking…pontoon thing…
As evening falls on the first day the band is assembled…
The crowd is expectant…
So let the ministry begin…
