China Village Trip Part 1

Back

Faith Family Christian Church, our new church plant, in downtown Hong Kong, has moved to a new facility!

We were sought out by another church that needed help paying for their facility space.  They gave us the Sunday morning time-slot for our main service and use of the entire facility for half the week—Wow!!!

In turn, we are helping them to pay for as much of the rent as we are able.  The space you see below, including a few other small rooms, is about all there is and leases for approximately USD$5k per month—and this, in a non-glamorous part of Hong Kong, not far from our former location.  For almost the last three decades, Hong Kong has always ranked in the top-ten most expensive cities in the world for commercial office space.

So we kicked of our new meeting location with a special service and a prayer conference!

Joining us were our Faith to the Nations ‘China Village Trip’ team members from America.  Several were prayer leaders and assisted in the teaching and ministry to all who attended the three-day prayer conference.

Prayer was lifted up for:
1. Faith Family Church and its members
2. The Church in America
3. Mainland China
—and the strategic plan for all three working together for the harvest of one-billion, unsaved people in Mainland China.

After the prayer conference, the FTTN team filled out the usual forms and headed for the China border.

The team then headed to Western China with a new, first-time addition to an FTTN team—
two HK Chinese members of ‘Faith Family Church’ joining the lineup!

The team, led by Joab, their golden-haired guardian angel, navigated their way through the sea of Native Chinese,
as their scent glands rapidly conveyed evidence of oriental foods and unbathed bodies.

The team boarded the train and settled into their overnight-sleeper compartment beds,
aptly named ‘hard sleepers’, for the journey to the unreached villages.

Upon arriving in Western China, they headed for the orphanage where they would be ministering to a beautiful group of young orphans. While traveling in the city, the team crowded themselves into one of these…
motor-tricycle things…always an unforgettable experience!

The time is planting season.  Everywhere you look are Chinese working the muddy fields and planting the crop
that symbolizes the Chinese people—rice!

It doesn’t seem possible that a nation of 1.3 billion, could feed its people with the antiquated tools and farming practices seen in nearly every field the team passes by.

At this critical time, every member of the family lends a hand.

In some panoramas it’s as though time stands still…

And just when you think China will never change—you see a piece of modern machinery…well, sort of…

Arriving at the orphanage, the team is greeted by the curious eyes of eager onlookers.  Adorning the walls just after entering (picture on the right), are pictures of the orphans’ accomplishments and their  ‘new family’.

The team was quickly accepted by the children and they listened intently as Sharmin shared about God.

They prayed and worshiped.

In the Bible below, one of the orphans underlined many verses, but interestingly circled the verse in Luke 6:27 where Jesus spoke…“But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you..

What significance this verse must have to a child who was abandoned by their parents, left to fend completely for themselves, constantly scavenging and begging for food, cold and hungry, scorned and unloved, helpless and hopeless—then suddenly taken in by someone who tells them…about Jesus…

(Also, this very Bible was given to this orphanage by another FTTN team several years ago)

…to be continued in the next eNewsletter—a miracle at the orphanage; and the team goes deep into the countryside to visit the only Chinese Christian family in the area!

The deepest thanks to those of you who continue to faithfully stand with us as you are
the ones who make these things possible

We love and appreciate you so much, and consider ourselves an extension of you here,
