One of our favorite ministry times is to the Chinese children and we were given a wonderful invitation to do just that by the Hong Kong schools. Our family, along with our new ministry assistant, Iris, another visiting Missionary, and our Chinese helpers, did a Christmas presentation acting out the Christmas story and preaching the Gospel.
The program began with Christmas carols and then games led by Iris and Joab.

All eyes were on the Christmas story drama as some of the children said this was the first time they’d ever seen it or heard the story of Jesus

At the conclusion of the presentation, Sharmin shared the Gospel with the help of a Chinese interpreter. She asked if any would like to give their hearts to Jesus and it looked as if nearly every student raised their hand and then prayed with Sharmin to ask Jesus into their heart.
Just after Christmas, a team of young adults came from the USA, to help us take materials into China. In typical fashion, the team loaded their backpacks with goodies for our Chinese brothers and sisters.

With strong backs and multiple daily trips, the team moved huge amounts of materials.

The team then went to a Computer Software Design company in China, to do a New Year’s Celebration as an
“English Corner”. In addition to speaking English with the Chinese, we played group games, and did a drama about Jesus for them.
To start the evening’s festivities we played some games. In the first they were broken into small groups and given the task of designing…something…with marshmallows and tooth pics. Since software programmers and hardware engineers were the trades of these Chinese participants, they came up with some clever…things!

The Chinese were then required to explain what their creations were using only English—a challenge for some but they bravely took on the assignment.

After a few more games, the group then performed a drama about the ministry and purpose of Jesus. The Chinese watched intently and afterwards the Pastor from NY spoke to the group.

We then took a group photo.

The team then boarded a train for Chengdu to visit our Chinese friends there. Always, one of the most enjoyable parts of the train ride is the interaction with the other Chinese passengers and since this is one of the less expensive forms of transportation many migrant workers travel in this manner. Contact with “Westerners” for them is rare, so we often feel the inquisitive stares of curious eyes—especially from the children.

One of the other facets of our ministry that has developed over the years, is the ministry to “other Missionaries”. We’ve seen ourselves as being a blessing to the Chinese but never until recently really saw how needed was the ministry to encourage, bless and support our fellow Missionaries on the field in Mainland China.
This young couple, in the pictures below, lives and ministers in a city where Westerners are few. Strong, Holy Spirit, worship-filled, encouraging churches just don’t exist in Mainland China, so these laborers of the harvest must endure a spiritual wilderness in order to complete God’s work. Whenever we come in contact with them, we make sure they’re blessed with spiritual and tangible substance and words of encouragement.
In the first picture, Steve had every member of the team bring a stuffed animal for their 3yr old daughter and, one by one, every team member went up to her and gave her their stuffed animal. As you can see in the picture, her expression says it all.
The team then gave them two duffle bags filled with “goodies” and essentials from the US. We also gave them with some books and prayed for their whole family.

And of course, what trip to Chengdu would be complete without a visit to the Panda Bears…

And the wholesale market…
This market in one of the largest of its kind in China. Vendors come from all over China to buy inexpensive goods here and then sell them in their stores located all over China.

One of the challenges after making a purchase is getting your goods back to your delivery truck. But fortunately many find a business in simply moving the goods from one point to another.

Back in Hong Kong, our recently started church is continuing to meet weekly in our home. We enjoyed the occasions when visitors join us from outside of Hong Kong, for our Sunday service like our team from NY.
We consider it quite an honor to pray for team members as God is dealing with many to change the course of their lives; and for some even to return to the Mission field to answer a call.

A big thanks to the team from NY!!!

Thank you partners for all you do!
Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
We are here as an extension of you!!!
Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world
and preach the good news to all people”…v.20 Then the
disciples went out and preached everywhere…
Romans 15:20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel
where Christ was not known…

Corinthians 10:15-16 …we hope that your faith will grow and that
our work among you will be greatly enlarged. 16 Then we will be able to go and preach the Good News in other
places that are far beyond you, where no one else is working.
